KANONIKA 25 | "Il CCEO – Strumento per il futuro delle Chiese orientali cattoliche. Atti del Simposio di Roma, 22-24 febbraio 2017 Centenario del Pontificio Istituto Orientale (1917-2017). Orientalia Christiana & Valore Italiano™, 2017 - ISBN 978-88-97789
From the 22nd to the 24th of February 2017, the Pontifical Oriental Institute held a Symposium with the title Il CCEO – Strumento per il futuro delle Chiese orientali cattoliche. The aim of this important gathering was to record not only the centenary of the foundation of the Pontifical Oriental Institute, created by Pope Benedict XV with the M.P. Orientis Catholici of 15 October 1917, but also to commemorate that 54 years ago an autonomous canonical Section was set up in the Institute on the 2nd of July 1963. Eight years later, in 1971, Pope Paul VI raised this Section to the rank of Canon Law Faculty. It is until now the only oriental canon law faculty in the world. The fact that not a small number of its professors contributed to this Symposium, testifies to the fidelity of the Oriental Canon Law Faculty to its mission statement given by Pope Paul VI, “so that the array of canonists destined to study, interpret and establish the customs and the laws of the Churches of the Christian East, might grow and flourish always more fully, in order that all might finally be ever more ready to search to preserve the unity of spirit by means of the bond of peace…: one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, acts by means of all and is present in all”. On its 25th anniversary (1992-2017) the series Kanonika is honored to publish the current volume which presents, along with the introductory and concluding speeches, 17 conferences dedicated to one of the major titles of the CCEO, and 20 papers touching on topics related to the Oriental Code.
